Dr David Fialkoff, N.D.
Following his graduation from the University of Connecticut Dr. David enrolled in the Pacific College of Naturopathic Medicine* in northern California in 1979 as part of their first class. In his third year, because of his excellence in the homeopathic department he was given the privilege of studying with Ben Hole, MD, a protege of George Vithoulkas in the East Bay. After this extensive, intensive mentoring experience Dr David moved to Seattle to attend the John Bastyr College of Naturopathic Medicine (now Bastyr University) as part of their second graduating class. There he had the unique opportunity of being trained for 36 weeks by renown homeopath, Jennifer Jacobs, MD, who taught in Bastyr's clinic that year just after she also relocated from the San Francisco Bay Area. "I went from looking over Ben Hole's shoulder to having Jennifer Jacobs look over mine." In that fourth year, he published "The Repertory of the Mind," a "computerized" compendium of mental guidelines for homeopathic treatment.
After graduating Dr Dave was licensed by the State of Connecticut as a Naturopathic Doctor in 1983. He then opened Natural Medical Service, a general, private practice in West Hartford, Connecticut where he helped to pioneer the spread of naturopathic and alternative medicine in New England. He has worked extensively with HIV/AIDS patients as well as with elderly immigrant and inner city populations. "It is rewarding to spread the benefits of natural therapy to those less economically privileged."
Dr David established Bald Mountain Retreat as a site to immerse patients and guests in a healing environment. It is easier to convey the benefits of nature cure by living it. Realizing that not everyone can visit Bald Mountain Dr Dave has made his easy, folksy expertise available through phone/online consultations. He is very good at finding simple solutions to what seem like complex problems. Let him guide you through the often confusing world of natural medicine to workable solutions. Homeopathy, his main expertise, requires no lifestyle change, but if you want to make some healthy changes, he is a great coach.
Recognizing that psychological dis-ease is a very common problem in our modern world Dr David developed a self-guided method (based on his interpretation of Jungian/Archetypal psychologist, James Hillman's work) for those working with psycho-spiritual issues. Those interested can find this effective, non-oppositional technique presented in Dr Dave's
The Poetry of Disease
Dr. Dave has taken a living interest in natural health and spirituality from his youth, integrating these sciences in his work. "The universe works very economically; the same wisdom appears in many forms."
Thoughts on Bald Mountain:
"Each I walk the land I feel transformed. Living here the spell is unbroken. The retreat is itself a meditation, a place facilitating mindful presence, free of distraction. This is a place to touch nature, the world's and your own.
"I love hosting. I am friendly and attentive, entertaining and funny. Guests have referred to me as delicious (personality and food) and brilliant (conversations.) I love to teach (the original meaning of "doctor") and can do so unobtrusively. That is, I have a good knowledge-base / skill set and an excellent "bedside manner." After 30 years of doctoring I'm good at matching people with reasonable, acceptable strategies for living. One-on-one and in small groups I look forward to sharing with you the fruits of my decades-long practice of yoga, meditation, vegetarianism, Kabbalah, alternative medicine and natural healing... or just to making your stay pleasant."
Dr. David is a poet ( Writings ) and has also authored

*Naturopathic medicine requires a four-year, post-graduate education very similar to standard medical school except that it teaches the use of alternative health care therapies which stimulate and strengthen the body's own detoxification and healing abilities. These natural health therapies include, nutrition, herbalism, homeopathy, Chinese medicine, hydrotherapy, live food therapy, manipulation, massage, weight loss program and more.
The chassidic rabbi, acknowledged as a genius as a child, said to me as we were entering synagogue, "Dovid, I read some of your website [ www.kabbalahhealing.net ]. It is very good." After receiving my thanks he continued, "You know a lot of chassidus [kabbalah]." I silently demurred. Then, a moment later, returning to where he was seated, I suggested instead, "I'm good at explaining it." To which with uncharacteristic enthusiasm he exclaimed, "Yes!" His father-in-law, the local Chabad-Lubavitch rabbi, another man not given over to praise, has observed more than once, "Dovid, G-d has given you a bracha [blessing] for words."
