As we age the "sins" of our youth become apparent. For example, bone density is lost throughout life and only becomes critical, symptomatic, as osteoporosis in later years. Also, it may be possible to smoke and drink with relative impunity when we are young, but these bad habits catch up with us as we age. The Chinese say that we possess only so much chi / life force; we can squander it or use it wisely. I wrote of "the foolish certainty of youth that now is all and forever." The best way to age well is to live well, making sure to give your system what it needs to maintain its youthfulness; proper nutrition, rest, exercise, peace... Of course, it's best to maintain the organism from the start, but it's never too late to start. Especially if you are getting a late start it's good to employ extraordinary measures. The first of these is high quality nutrition. I recommend a program of juicing and super foods and increasing consumption of raw foods. (See Diet.) A high quality supplement / multivitamin-mineral also helps replenish depleted tissues. (See Supplements.) Studies of cultures with the most elders clearly show that peace of mind is an essential factor in aging gracefully. Stress is a killer, bad for the heart and other living things. A meditative attitude, enhanced by breathing techniques reduces stress and oxygenates your body and brain, another important factor in feeling / being younger. (See Peace of Mind.) You can turn back the clock.
